Villa Cortile, a new townhouse development in Oakville, various modern and contemporary residential and commercial projects in Germany, including the renovation of a medieval 12th-century castle.

What is your first memory of design?

My first memory of design was when I was a child; helping my father build an architectural model for a building he was designing in Iran.

What materials do you like to work with the most and why?

My favorite material to work with is wood. Not only is it warm and sustainable, but I am amazed by its limitless potential. While wood has been used as building material for hundreds of years, its various applications are still being discovered. As part of my master’s thesis, I developed a new malleable structural system that was made from wood.

What are some of your favourite buildings and why?

Some of my favorite buildings are the houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I love how his projects appear seamless, where the architecture, interior spaces and landscape all coexist together as one harmonious unit. This is very similar to Human Architecture, a design approach we heavily focus on here at Audax.
