The Chase

Featured in The Globe and Mail’s annual review of Best New Restaurants in Toronto in 2013, and awarded One of Canada’s Best New Restaurants in 2014 by Air Canada’s enRoute Magazine, The Chase, and its companion The Chase Fish & Oyster, were seen as two of the greatest restaurants to open in Toronto's financial district in over a decade. Occupying the ground level and rooftop of a restored heritage building, Audax provided full interior design and architectural services for both restaurants, helping establish a new benchmark for upscale dining in Toronto. The interiors of The Chase break away from current restaurant design trends, with each space in the restaurant taking cues from various rooms of a high-end home. The design uses a mix of traditional and contemporary elements in a light colour palette—as opposed to the traditional dark—to create a feeling of laid-back luxury. Light and soft fabrics present a powerful juxtaposition to the glass and steel buildings that dominate Toronto's financial district.
