Audax has completed a remarkable project, showcasing its full range of expertise in architecture, interior design, and construction. The new mixed-use building is located on a limited urban site that is flanked by three buildings. The structure features ground-floor commercial space and a single residential unit on the remaining floors. Due to limited access to the site and staging areas, coordination for major trades had to be done just-in-time.
The project presented various challenges, including a mix of combustible and non-combustible assemblies, underpinning, bench footings, and shoring. With its mixed-use nature and site conditions, fire separations, fire alarms, and exiting solutions were critical. Advanced 3D modeling software helped coordinate the various structural and mechanical systems, preventing conflicts during the construction phase.
Despite the project's complexity, Audax maintained a high level of execution during the finishing stages. The collaborative efforts of architects, designers, and construction professionals facilitated the finer details, resulting in a beautiful project, inside and out. The outcome was a project that was executed quickly and efficiently, meeting all the challenges head-on.
